Injury prevention – T-squad swimmers

As part of the progression and professionalisation of the swimming coaching at Carnforth Otters, Nicky and Derek have recently attended a land training, warm up and injury prevention course following which it is now intended to incorporate these core elements into the training regime for T Squad swimmers.
Head Coach, Mark Smith, has endorsed this as an integral part of swim training for all T Squad.
Injury prevention is self explanatory. A pre-pool, land based warm up is about maximising the 90 mins of pool time we have by getting the swimmers to do an approved, swim specific land warm up 15 minutes before the swimmers usually get into the water. This will reduce the risk of injury and it will enable the swimmers to use the 90 minutes more appropriately during training.
This injury prevention sessions follows on from the land training sessions already offered to all T Squad swimmers.
