Cold water shock – safety talk by the Fire Service
July 20, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Our fantastic swimmers are all extremely confident in water but NOT immune to cold water shock. Don’t let your son/daughter miss this…
You may have seen reports in the news lately relating to water safety, in particular the cause and consequences of cold water shock which can easily affect even the strongest of swimmers. Living in the area we do with easy access to numerous outdoor water sources, the threat is very real.
With this in mind, one of our parents has very kindly arranged for Lancashire Fire & Rescue to come to Salt Ayre to give a presentation where they will discuss water safety, including cold water shock.
With summer holidays approaching and hopefully warmer weather, this is very beneficial information for both swimmers and parents and hope you can attend.
The presentation will take place in the Hub at Salt Ayre (through the doors to the Spa and to the end of the corridor) on Saturday 20th July 2019 at 3.00pm. All are welcome.
