Injury prevention – land training for TOP 3 LANES

As part of the progression and professionalisation of the swimming
coaching at Carnforth Otters, Nicky and Derek have recently attended a
land training, warm up and injury prevention course following which it
is now intended to incorporate these core elements into the training
regime for T Squad swimmers. Head Coach, Mark Smith, has endorsed this
an an integral part of swim training for all T Squad.
Injury prevention is self explanatory. A pre-pool, land based warm
up is about maximising the 90 mins of pool time we have by getting the swimmers to do an approved, swim specific land warm up 15 minutes before the swimmers usually get into the water.
This will reduce the risk of injury and it will enable the swimmers
to use the 90 minutes more appropriately during training.
Initially this will mean all T Squad attending a one off training
session at Salt Ayre to learn how to do land training.
This session is to be held in The Studio for the top 3 lanes of the main pool late session.
