Competitive Swimming with Carnforth Otters
Salt Ayre Lancaster, Heysham and Carnforth Swimming Pools
We are a Swim 21 accredited competitive swimming club based at Salt Ayre, Lancaster. We compete in the top divisions of MicroLeague North West and the North Lancs League as well as Division 1 of the Arena League. Our aim is to help each one of our swimmers achieve their potential, whether competing as an individual or as a member of a team; we do not exist purely to help children to learn to swim. The coaching team consists of 25 qualified ASA coaches who support our Head Coach, Mark Smith, our Head of Teaching, Susan Goodfellow and our Team Manager, Andy Timpany.
We have currently 240 registered swimmers. We will accept new swimmers providing there is pool space for their particular age and ability group. Our lower age limit is 5 years old. Swimmers are grouped by ability, not age. For swimmers who are starting to learn the competitive strokes, the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) is followed that involves 2 sessions per week. Following entry into the Junior squad, swimmers follow a dedicated training program with pool time steadily increasing right up to elite level in our top squad. at the elite end we currently have swimmers who competed in the 2012 olympic trials, one swimmer who competed in the London Olympics and a swimmer who is now in the Triathlon High Performance Squad with the Brownlee's in Leeds. To find out more please contact our membership secretary, Susan Goodfellow on 01524 762039 or Sheila Brown on 01524 720884.
Details of the club and it's policies are on the About Us pages. Membership forms and Policy documents can be found in our Membership section and our child protection policies and contact details for our Child Protection officer, Andrew Turner can be found on our Child Protection pages
