2017 NW Winter Championships
Five of Carnforth Otter’s top squad swimmers travelled to Manchester Aquatics Centre for the NW Winter Championships having achieved qualifying times in multiple events. Despite being in the middle of heavy winter training, the swimmers were a credit to head coach Mark Smith and had a successful weekend with bronze medals for Ben Winterburn (200m freestyle), Alex Livingstone (100m Backstroke) and Tom Dugdale (100m butterfly) but the icing on the cake was Tom achieving the qualifying time for what will be his first British Winter Championships in the 100m butterfly.
Hannah Edwards had a busy weekend, competing in 6 events including the gruelling 800m freestyle in which she was joined by Ella Mounsey. Both girls gave strong performances and achieved personal best times.
The highlight of Hannah and Alex’s weekend was swimming in heats against 3 times Olympian and former World and European champion Hannah Miley who was competing in preparation for next month’s British Championships.
