Lancashire takes 14th National Title
Lancashire clinched their 14th successive title at the National County Team Championships at Pond’s Forge on October 18th.
Led by team captains Josh Thompson and Holly Hibbot, Lancashire had to pull out all the stops to secure victory against some very tough opposition in this loud, colourful and fast paced event.
With 20 teams in Division One and 19 teams in Division 2, as well as trying to claim the top spot, some were looking to avoid relegation and others to gain promotion. However, Lancashire didn’t have it all their own way…… Middlesex and Yorkshire raced ahead in the first few events, but Lancashire started to claw their way back and after the first set of relays where they pulled off some fantastic wins, they managed to get to the top of the Division One table and stay there for the rest of the meet, slowly increasing their winning margin.
Josh produced some excellent swims: A PB of 27.95 on the Breaststroke leg of the 4 x 50m medley team relay helped the senior boys to first place in a blazing time of 1.41.97. A one second PB of 56.10 (3rd) in the 100m Butterfly followed 10 minutes later by 1.02.67 (2nd) in the 100m Breaststroke gained valuable points and helped the team to secure anoverall victory.
The final top 3 points: Lancashire 493 Yorkshire 447 Middlesex 424
