Otters on Fire at North Lancs L2
A very impressive start to the season for Carnforth Otters!
Of only a small number of 9 and 10 year olds to qualify for the competition, our youngest swimmers looked like seasoned veterans as the approached heats and finals with quiet determination and executed their races in style. Anya White, Rhianna Sisson, Imogen Sharp, Pippa Darlington, Maia Bishop, Zara Wilson, Sacha Robb, George Wilby, McKenzie Ronson Horrocks, Owain Heathcote Jones produced some massive personal best performances and brought home a large number of highly prized “black badges”.
At the other end of the scale, we were privileged to watch Sopie Casson in action, swimming a phenomenal race in the 400m Freestyle and clocking a national qualifying time of 4.15.14.
11 year olds Alice Sands and George Cookson swam PBs in just about every one of their events and reached every final. Rhys Ashton and Ieuan Balckwell also swam well, this age group also showing some great promise for the future. The 14 year old girls Aimee Banks, Alex Livingstone, Ella Mounsey, Hannah Edwards, Sadie Spencer and Lydia Denby were in fine form once again, spurring each other on to some incredible swims. Two of the many highlights were the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th placings in the 50 Backstroke final and the 1st, 2nd and 4th placings in the 100m Backstroke final.
The 12, 13 and 14 year old boys and girls Charles Moore, Connor White, Connor Sisson, Thomas Dugdale, Matthew Crabtree, Ben Winterburn, Lydia Louise Shenton and Kiera Richmond produced some good swims and a number of PBs. The open swimmers also gave some excellent performances:
Richard Mead produced two great swims and PBs.
Chris Stainton and Emily Reay swam well despite an injury plagued winter. Holly Salisbury and Jess Shatford showed a return to form.
Josh Thompson had an outstanding meet, clocking 12 national qualifying times and 9 Championship records.
Thomas Dowthwaite, Aleksander Tokarski and Connor Salisbury also qualified for the event.
