Otters ‘Spectacular’ in Darwen 2016
Carnforth Otters swimmers travelled to Darwen for Preston Swimming Clubs annual ‘Summer Spectacular’ swim meet.
In the 9 year age group Tom Adamson had an amazing meet entering 10 events and winning 6 Silver medals for 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, 100m and 200m backstroke and 200m breaststroke, a Bronze for 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke and a haul of PB times complete with over 30 seconds knocked off his 200m backstroke time! Imogen Sharp representing the girls brought home the Silver for 50m butterfly and Bronze for 200m breaststroke. McKenzie Ronson-Horrocks was certainly ‘spectacular’ in his events winning 4 Gold medals for 50m and 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke. Owain Heathcote-Jones won Bronze for 200m freestyle. George Wilby, Jack Collett in the 10 age group had good swims and Anya White for the girls gaining a couple of PBs. 11 year age group swimmer Rhys Ashton won a Silver medal in 200 backstroke and Bronze for 50m backstroke. Ace Bower, Sacha Robb, Ellie Howley and Maia Bishop all achieved PBs. 12 year age groups swimmers Alice Sands won Bronze for 200m freestyle and Ieuan Blackwell achieved two PBs.
In the older age groups Kiera Richmond won Bronze for 200m breaststroke and Connor White swam well in the 13 year old age group. Matthew Crabtree had a great event for the 14 year age group winning top four places for his four events and a fantastic 6 second PB in the 200 freestyle which claimed him the Silver medal and with a Gold in the 100m and a Bronze in the 50m his freestyle is looking on good form. Alexandra Livingstone continues to perform exceptionally with top two places for all her 8 events; winning Gold medals for 200m Individual Medley, 100m and 200m backstroke and 100m butterfly and Silver medals for 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle. Finally, the 15 year and over’s were represented by Richard Mead and Elias Giles. Richard achieved a fantastic licensed time of 59.74 for his 100m freestyle event and Elias had a couple of PB’s.
Once again our children did us proud and thanks to the poolside coaches and parents for supporting.
