Calling all parents – can you help?
As you will know, Carnforth Otters is run on a purely voluntary basis. To ensure that we can keep all areas of the club running as well as we would like, there is always a need for new parents, grandparents and guardians to step forward and help so that we can fill the gaps left by parents whose swimmers have moved on.
You may have noticed that we have had to cancel some sessions recently because we simply haven’t had enough qualified coaches available when we have swimmers at competitions. Cancelling sessions is a last resort, but
this shows that we are now short of poolside support.
We are looking for anyone who is interested in helping out in the club in any area, admin, teaching poolside or being an official (timekeeper, starter, judge). At the moment we are in greatest need of poolside support and officials.
Don’t worry that you feel that you don’t know anything…. full support, training and mentoring will be provided and paid for. There is a structured pathway in place for volunteers from when they first come on to poolside right through to head coach, or from timekeeper to referee.
Also, we all have work and other commitments. Don’t worry- a handful of people who can commit to one or two evenings a week is better than one person who can commit to six or seven!
