Otters don’t wait for Christmas at Preston Countdown 2017
During the weekend of 2nd & 3rd December swimmers from Carnforth Otters travelled to Darwen Leisure Centre to compete in the Preston Christmas Countdown swimming gala, competing with some of the best swimmers from across the north west. The gala saw Otters perform fantastically well again with an haul of medals totalling 9 Golds, 9 Silvers and 5 Bronze medals. Personal Best times tumbled throughout the weekend and Otters increased their presence for The Lancashire County Championships due to take place in January 2018 with 34 qualifying times being achieved by Otters during the 2 day gala.
On the Saturday morning 13yr old Alice Sands started the competiotion strongly for the Otters achieving an 8 second PB and sececuring the Silver medal position in the girls 400m freestyle. In the boys 50freestyle 11yr old McKensie Ronson Horrocks secured Silver with a PB and a Lancasghire County Time. There were also PBs with Lancashire times for Matthew Crabtree and Thomas Dugdale. 9yr old Jacob Dugdale also got a PB. In the boys 100 freestyle 10yr old Tom Adamson achieved Gold with a Lancashire time and a new PB, while there were further Lancashire qualifying PBs for Thomas Dugdale and Matthew Crabtree. 14yr old William Mead also secured a PB.. In the girls 50 backstroke 9yr old Lucy Adamnson got a 5 second PB, with further PBs coming from Hannah McMillan, Ellie Howlie and Alice Sands. In the boys 100 breaststroke Tom Adamson took Silver and 14yr old Connor White a bronze place. in the boys 200 IM 11 yr old George Wilby took bronze and Mckenzie Ronson-Horrocks Gold, while Thomas Dugdale achieved bronze in the 15yr age category. In the girls 50m breaststroke Lucy Adamson got a PB and in the boys 200 freestyle her brother Tom Adamson got a gold medal, taking 9 secs off his PB with a Lancashire County time. In the boys 50 freestyle There were PBs for Jacob Dugdale and George Wilby while Tom Adamson and William Mead got silver medals in the 10 yrs and 14yr age groups. In the girls 100 backstroke Sacha Robb got a PB with Alice Sands taking bronze with a PB and a Lancashire county time. In the boys 200 breaststroke Mckenzie Ronson-Horrocks got a silver medal with a 7sec PB and a Lancashire Time while 11yr old Owain Heathcote-Jones took an amazing 11 seconds off his PB in the 400 freestyle taking gold in the process.
In the girls 50 butterfly there were PBs for 12yr old Paige Evans and Sacha Robb. In the boys 200 backstroke George Wilby took 4 secs off his PB and Mckenzie Ronson-Horrocks took gold in the 11 yr age group. In the girls 100 freestyle there were PBs for Rosie Walling, Hannah McMillan, Gabija Raubaite, Alice Sands and Ellie Howlie. In the boys 50 backstroke Tom Adamson took gold and Mckenzie Ronson-Horrocks Silver in the 10 and 11yr age groups, both with PBs and Lancashire County times. There were also PBs for George Wilby and Owain Heathcote-Jones. In the girls 200 IM Rosie Walling got a 9sec PB and in the boys 50 breaststroke George Wilby took gold and Tom Adamson Silver, both with PBs. In the girls 200 freestyle there were also PBs for Rosie Walling, Gabija Raubaite, Ellie Howley, Sacha Robb and Alice Sands who took gold in the 13 yr age group. In the girls 50 freestyle there were PBs for Lucy Adamson, Rosie Walling, Hannah McMillan, Ellie Howley and Alice Sands. In the boys 100 backstroke Tom Adamson and Owain Heathcote-Jones took gold and silver respectively and George Wilby and Rhys Ashton got 2 sec PBs. In the girls 200 breaststroke there were PBs for Hannah McMillan who also achieved a Lancashire County time.
A fantastic weekend where Carnforth Otters continued to showcase the strength and depth of swimming talent in the club at all levels. Roll on the Lancashire County Championships in January 2018!!!
